Nucs include FIVE (5) Nine Inch (9)" frames that fit in 9 5/8" Langstroth deep hive boxes. Your Nuc will include thousands of bees including a Queen. Each NUC includes 3 frames with a quality brood pattern. The other two frames will have drawn comb with nectar, honey and pollen. These bees are Carniolan bees and survive well in our dry summers and cold winters.
As a young man Bert was introduced to bee keeping and knew immediately this is what he wanted to do. For the past 45 years Bert has sustainably raised bees and grown his family business to include pollination services, honey and wax production. Berts wife Jelly is also a big part of the day to operations and can often be found in the bee yards and right beside Bert hauling bees for pollination services. She encourages innovative ideas and keeps Bert smiling! The Wustners want to help bring the joy of beekeeping to others in our local communities by offering high quality NUCS from their bees!
5 frame Nucs will be available in the spring 2025! These are healthy starter bee colonies ready to grow!
Each NUC comes with a healthy queen, lots of adult bees and brood. NUCS are the best option to get your apiary growing fast! Read more about the reservation and pickup process below!
Nucs include FIVE (5) Nine Inch (9)" frames that fit in 9 5/8" Langstroth deep hive boxes. Each Queen will be vetted before delivery to ensure that there are 3 frames with a quality brood pattern. The other two frames will have drawn comb with nectar, honey and pollen. These bees are Carniolan bees and survive well in our dry summers and cold winters.
Nucs are made by removing a few frames from large healthy colonies in Bert and Jelly's bee yard in Missoula, MT. A new Queen is introduced to the new colony and inspected after two weeks to make sure the Nuc is ready to grow.
Specific pickup dates will be finalized as the season dictates. There are many factors that can impact exact pick up dates but we will send emails and update the delivery dates below as we get closer.

We understand that you might have to cancel, life happens. Due to the nature of building nucs, vetting queens, checking bees during the days leading up to delivery it is important that we know 21 DAYS PRIOR to your scheduled delivery date if you need to cancel! (although we really hope you don't because raising bees is awesome)
This allows time for us to refund your money and contact those on the wait list and make arrangements for delivery.
Our cancellation policy is set up to ensure that everyone who wants bees gets them and that anyone who has an unforeseen circumstance can communicate with us ahead of time to let us know. Anyone who doesn't communicate a cancellation request in the manner described above and is a No Show on the day of delivery will not be allowed to reserve nucs in the future.
Click the BUY NOW ! button at the top of the home page and be sure to provide contact information (phone# or email) and where you will be picking up your NUCS. We request a $50 deposit for each NUC. Remaining $150 for each NUC is due upon receiving your NUCS.
